LGU-Dapitan takes part in the first ever St. James Pilgrim Walk

The St. James Dapitan Pilgrim Walk was the first of its kind conducted by the parish of Dapitan as part of the celebration of the feast day of St. James the Greater on July 25,2016. Originally, the Pilgrim Walk was an activity of the Confraternity of St. James the Great of the Parish of St. James the Great, Ayala, Alabang. Inspired by the Camino de Santiago to the Basilica of St. James in Compostela, Spain, the simple Pilgrim Walk is hoped to become the bridge to the same spiritual blessings received by those able to join the pilgrimage in faraway Spain.

Negosyo Center in Dapitan Launched


The Local Government of Dapitan in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry have successfully launched the Negosyo Center on July 27,2016 located at the 3rd Floor, Office of the City Administrator at the New Gov’t Center, Dapitan City. The center seeks to provide consultancy services and technical assistance  to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the locality. The establishment of the centers is in line with the Republic Act No. 1064 or the Go Negosyo Act. Among the services being offered in Negosyo Center are business name registration, business advisory, and business information and advocacy, market link aging as well as business managementtrainings and consultations.

“FISHES OF THE OCEAN” Finally Found a Home in Dapitan

“Fishes of the Ocean”, the Philippines' longest painting in continuous canvas finally found a home in Dapitan for good after quite a time stored at an apartment, where Rolando de Leon, a world renowned scenographer was then staying. City officials of Dapitan who heard the plight of the masterpiece, and in coordination with its number one stakeholder the ROMGARJAL Group of Companies offered to adopt the painting.

A colorful and festive mood engulfed the Street Parade which opened the Kinabayo Festival 2016 starting at 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon participated in by the different local and national offices, civic and religious organizations. This was highlighted by an Opening Program held at the city plaza that officially opened the 10-day fiesta celebration in honor of St. James the Greater. Exciting and fun-filled activities are being prepared for the public to enjoy spearheaded by City Tourism Officer, Apple Marie A. Agolong.  


LGU-Dapitan turns over new Dental Health Bus

Through the unrelenting efforts of City Mayor Rosalina G. Jalosjos, a brand new Dental Health Bus granted by the Department of Health was formally turned over to City Health Officer, Dr. Rolito V. Cataluna last July 4,2016 during the Monday Program and Flag Raising Ceremony . The dental health bus worth 4M is complete with air conditioning and ventilation system, built-in AM/FM radio and speakers, 2 sets of fully motorized dental unit and chair, lavatory and faucet, saliva ejector, dental module and operating light with complete dental instruments, gadgets and accessories.
