Ilihan Hill

  • More or less, 60 meters in height;
  • The foot of this hill was an ancient burial ground of the pre Hispanic Dapitanons;
  • One can have a picture-perfect 360 degree view of the urban center at the top;
  • In 1762, it was established as “Fort de Dapitan” by the Spanish government to protect Dapitan from foreign and pirates invasion;
  • Relics of this ancient military fortress are still visible today like the stone walls and the two cannons now place at the City Plaza; and
  • During the 2004 Christmas season, this hill was spruced up with lights and decors, developed further, beautified and became another major tourists’ Christmas attractions.
